Why Deer Hunters Use Guns

About 25 years ago right after college my wife and I lived in outskirt of Wichita close to a Dillon grocery store, they were expanding the road and city closed all traffic to one road. Any how, no kids yet and we used to take a night walk after dinner, we decided to stop at the Dillon and buy couple of ice cream cones, we went in picked up the stuff and as we got close to the counter heard a big commotion going all around us with the sound of glass breaking, we were kind of stunned and did not know if to run or stay put and right about that time a big buck just passed in front of us and proceeded to jump out right thru the glass. suffice it to say he did not go very far, blood and guts all over the place. What happened was due to lack of traffic, deer came to the parking lot in a group, something spooked them and somehow they walked right inside, started to slip and slide on the surface and the rest was pretty ugly. All and all, 3 dead deer and blood all over. We just lost our appetite for ice cream and left. The critters had no idea they are jumping toward big pane of glass. We'll never forget that.

A guy at the office send me the story, I was laughing so hard I started crying , my eyes wet, my stomach twisted in a knot because the "exact same thought" went through my mind hunting last fall with one exception, I was "not" planning to tie the loose end of the rope to my body. Yikes.. No sire... I've done a few dumb thing that I am not proud of .. but not that.

It's that dry type of hummer where he's not trying to be funny that makes it so hilarious,
I think Bird might be right about the same story recirculating every so often about the deer in the car waking up, the story I referred to may have been an "urban legend".
If any one wants to hear the 911 call you can find it on you tube just search "joe and the deer" WARNING if you don't like senseless use of the F word don't listen, It is funny but may have been a hoax.

Had one here years ago, caretaker used the new Jeep that was in storage for the winter to 'jack' some deer one night. After a few drinks,quite a few, he got his deer, but it in the back of the Jeep and started home. Thats when the deer came around and pretty much totaled the interor of the owners new Jeep. Guess he should have brought his taser !

Oh MY, that was great Jim. I have had a hard time reading the other posts with tears rolling down my face. We had an orphaned fawn when I was young. It was bottle fed and followed us kids like the family dog. Stayed around for many years, as we lived against the woods with no houses for many miles.
