Why can't i find a mower?

How is it that i can by a 56" lawn mower....you know, with mower deck, engine and ALL for less than i can buy a similar width finishing mower?

Why can't i get a 56" or 60" wide finishing mower for a few hundred bucks?

I feel the reason is there are more lawn tractors produced and not rear finishing mowers for real tractors.

Dont give up and watch any source in your area for deals. I just bought a 4year old caroni 71 inch rear discharge finish mower off craigs list for 150.00 The paint is faded and someone had stolen the frount half of the pto shaft which will cost me 102.00 to replace the shaft. So i ended up paying a total of 252.00 for it .I dont often get deals like that Randy

If you look at the deck on the Wally World mowers it's made from sheet metal and probably would not last too long.
The 7ft Land Pride 3 pt finish mower I bought weighs something like 800lbs and is built like a tank. It'll outlast a dozen cheaper sheet metal decks.

Rich is on the right track with his answer. A quality RFM is designed to last for years and years and years of heavy use. A $2,000 garden tractor is designed to last a few seasons of light duty. More with very careful maintenance and attention, but nothing like the life you'll see out of a good RFM.
