Hello,

I need a compact tractor to work a 280 acre ranch. Saw a Yanmar EX3200 at a local dealer and was impressed. Seems to be the size for what I need (and can handle) and looks well made.

Wanted to connect with Yanmar owners to get feedback on their experiences with the brand.

So you guys glad you bought one? Would you buy another one?

I enjoy my ex2900. Same as the 3200 but a couple less hp. For the price- I think it's unbeatable. I got my ex with loader and front grill for 16. Can't get a kubota b series for that.

I mow 3 acres with a landpride 72" mower and have hp to spare. I snow plow with a 72" rear blade with no problems too. The 4x4 is great.

Side by side hydro pedals beat the heal tie style all day long too

Only complaint- I would like a little more knee room

:welcome: to TBN! I don't have a new Yanmar, but i have a 1986 YM169D. It has been a great little tractor, has done what i have asked it to do, it has out performed my expectations. I have no experience on the new Yanmars however I do on new Deere's which have Yanmars under the hood. You cant go wrong with a Yanmar, they make practically every part for their tractor, not out sourced parts along with a reliable product that will stand the test of time.

we love our new ex2900...my only complaints are the lack of a cupholder and the need to remove a side panel to check oil.
As others have said, it's a little tight mounting and dismounting. but i have zero other complains. The engine is quiet, especially when warming up at idle. the hydro is super super quiet and very powerful. test drove a kiote ck27 hydro and it was very whiny to the point it bothered the ears. We have been pushing snow with ours and it rocks with the backblade, even with industrial tires. I like that it's heavy...heavier than kubota bseries. A couple dealers told us that weight is more important than horsepower many times....if you don't have the weight, the hp means nothing. For the price of a ex, you can only get a kubota B2320 which is an entirely different chassis. One thing i can't figure out is why the valve stem protectors are open towards the outside, and not the other way around.

I'll stop my rambling now..
closing thought--i've had many tractor gurus look this tractor over and they all say the construction is very good, with certain little things that make for a better tractor as compared to other brands.

I've been a Cub Cadet fan for many years, as they have always been very good for me....but have had their share of issues. So when it was time to upgrade, I sold my Cub 23HP subcompact, and bought the Cub Yanmar 24 HP subcompact(SC2400). probably only put about 10 hours on it so far, but very impressed with abilities, and it's definitely built extremely well.
Recently just also sold my 28HP Cub compact, and bought a 49HP compact. (LX490) This beast is the biggest tractor i've owned to date, and seems to be built REALLY well. Only 2 hours on it and no operational experience yet, but very very impressed thus far.
As others have said, Yanmar makes their own engines, transmissions, and many other parts, the parts I've ordered thus far have come in QUICKLY, and once they get their dealer networking and logistics ironed out, I believe they will be a major player.
Now is definitely a good time to buy, there are some deals on Cub Yanmars, since new tractors from here on out will be Yanmar name only. I know, because I scored a great deal on one, and am helping my dealer buddy by selling 3 more new ones!
Good luck!

I purchased my CCY EX3200 TLB in April of 2011. It was the best value for my money in a compact tractor class. Like many tractor owners, if I had another $5000. (or more), I would have purchased a Kubota or a JD. I have almost 50 hours on my tractor now. I have dug out 18" oak stumps with the backhoe, and moved many piles of sand with the FEL. The tractor is designed and built well, however, I would have liked more power for several jobs that I have completed so far. I am 5' 10" and 190 lbs, and find that the operator station is quite cramped on this model. You must carefully guide yourself into the seat to avoid banging your legs on fenders, pedals, etc. But again, I would have needed to spend several thousand$ more to buy a compact tractor with a roomier operators station. Best of luck on your purchase.

i have only had my 2011 Sc2400 for less than 6 months but on my 10 acre hobby farm its doenw well brush cutting the fenceline , and moving snow banks along my driveway (to make more room for plowing) as well as done a little bit of loader work and its been great! ive been quite impressed with its durability and the ammount of features for its price point.

Where are you located and would you be interested in a used EX3200?

Hello,

I need a compact tractor to work a 280 acre ranch.

First thing you need to decide is what you want to do with the tractor. 280 acres is quite a bit of land, and the more land you have, the more time you will spend on your tractor. Will you be mowing? Bush hogging? Disking? Loader work? Putting in fence posts?

Second, you need to know where you will get parts and support for the tractor once you have it. Where is the local dealer? Do they carry inventory of parts? Are they honest and do they do what they say they will?

I'm not going to say one brand is better then another, but I will say that one dealer is going to be MUCH BETTER then the others. You need to find that dealer and then see what he has to offer.

Eddie
