Why are we still using ethanol?

AND - I never even considered you as a closet corn farmer. Besides - how much corn can a fellow really farm in his closet.

By the time anything else might be put in our gas to reduce pollution - we may all be driving electric something or other.

I apologize - some times I live for the battle. I have no intentions to upset or offend. You make a VERY valid point.

Hey, I just enjoy the discussion.

We should convert the corn to liquor. :licking:

Hey - a beautiful farm girl from the hills of Tennessee once brought me a quart of corn liquor. It looked like water, had a great taste and went down kinda rough, had the kick of a 20 mule team.

I have a lot of relatives down in Kentucky.... ;) And we have a lot of corn in Indiana. ;) You get the drift.... ;)

Pot heads with grow lights could grow a lot in there. Corn farmers, not so much.

We don't have to put anything in the gas.. It's no question with todays engines regular gas does just fine..

I don't buy ethanol gas unless I'm traveling and there's no other option. Ethanol has killed a lot of small engines.

Not to mention the impact of growing corn in the first place. It's like mining your whole farm, then you dump nitrogen and minerals back in. The nitrogen leaches down and ends up accumulating just above the aquifer, if your lucky, or down into it. Pretty destructive environmentally speaking.

Yep. Farm fertilizer runoff is a huge problem. Most lakes around here are chock full of weeds due to it. There's one lake, however, that has little to no weeds and is sits right in the middle of Indiana corn country. That one is kinda scary. There should be weeds. There aren't. EEK!

For 18 years I was Director of Environmental Health, Anchorage, AK. We sampled water wells, private & public. Looking for coliform bacteria & worse. Move down here - take exact same job with Adams County. The first thing we check for in water sample - level of nitrogen. Agriculture had damaged drinking water over most of the wheat growing area in Ea WA state. Over application of derivatives of nitrogen fertilizers.
