Ali was probably the best and the Thriller in Manilla was one of the best fights. I never watch anymore as I hate to pay to watch boxing. Spinks and Tyson have ruined the sport by being thugs.

He was a great boxer, a great spokesman for the sport, and when others would "catch up" with him, he would change the direction of the sport. A true innovator. If I get a second place vote, give that to Joe Frasier.

Ali will always be the "man" in my opinion. Have never seen another boxer with the moves that he had. He really could move like a butterfly and sting like a bee. I could do without all the lip but he had his own way of promoting the sport of boxing and it did work.

Well, I'm of the age where I started watching boxing during Ali's last 10 bouts or so. There's no way in **** he won any of those fights!!! I thought Norton and Frazier both got robbed by judges when fighting Ali. Boxing was so rigged then that I lost interest in it as well did about half of the public. I've fought and watched lots and lots of fights and films. Maybe in his early days he was decent, but Ali is now suffering from hanging on for far too long being a pretender rather than a contender. Sorry, he isn't anywhere near my top 10.
I watched Hagler and Hearns as well as Leonard and Duran in person. Duran was so frickin' mean that he wanted to keep pounding on a guy when he was down and even wanted to hit the ref for interfering! I was even in Vegas for the draw between Hearns and Leonard. Hagler and Hearns were brawlers, but Leonard could be technical or he could brawl as well. I've been to one of Lennox Lewis' fights; he is huge in person! I think he would have clobbered Ali. Back when they kept the criminal nature of Tyson in check, he was a true animal in the ring - legally. Now he is just an animal. How can you not rank Holmes as one of the better fighters in his day? That left jab of his was wicked. Finally, there still isn't anyone anywhere near his weight class who doesn't want a fight with "The Golden Boy". Did you see Oscar in the Olympics?! Unbelievable for a kid who was forced to learn to box because he used to get beat up so frequently coming home from school in south L.A.!
