Hello,
I did a post like this about a year or so ago. I still see alot of the same names here. I just started surfing here recently again and am glad to be back. I was wondering if we could have everyone introduce themselves and tell us a little about themselves.

My name is Paul. I live in Hunterdon County (Tewksbury Township), NJ. Hunterdon was once a very rural farming community but we are losing our battle to developers who build large developments here. Luckily zoning here, depending on municipality, restricts building lots to anywhere from 2 to 10 acres (3 acres in Tewksbury).

I am an electrical engineer and work for a fairly large Integrated Circuit Manufacturer in Allentown, PA. Both my wife and I work there but we still drive separately (approx. 55 min) most of the time because of our varying hours. I work on very high speed optical networking chips.

I live on about 6 1/2 acres and have been promising my daughter goats and horses for the past 4 years. Well I told her in the spring we will get 3 or 4 goats. If she does well with taking care of them, we can look into getting a horse or 2. She is a bit young yet but loves to take her lessons.

I have been tractor shopping for the past 3 years but always seem to find something else to spend my money on - I have been promising my wife an addition to the house. I told her the longer I wait, the bigger and more expensive of a tractor I will require. She thinks I am a nut - but I definately have the "fever".

Between studying brochures and surfing websites like this one, I feel qualified to sell tractors myself. A big hello to everyone and thanks for some really good opinions and stories.

Where are you all from and what do you do?

Paul

Hey Paul, first of all thanks for the family update, its always interesting to hear how the other half lives (East coast). Your rural situation certainly sounds familiar, but how can you blame folks for wanting to have a little land to romp around on? Your tractor hunting stories are very similar to mine. After plowing through brochures from PowerTrac, Kubota, New Holland, John Deere, Bobcat, JCB, Case etc., I think I've reached a conclusion. Great thing is, for about 2 years now, new products from the manufactuer I like best keep coming out with better and better additions to their already popular lines. Hopefully I can get it all worked out and get down to business. I use various tractors in my line of work frequently but there will never be the same feeling as having your own. Hope you find yours. Your wait may be well worthwhile since JD is revamping their entire 4000 series with the 4X10 series. Rat...

Hi, Paul!

I guess to be consistent, I'll have to say it's all in my profile. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hi Paul! If you click on the posters username, you will get a reasonable (in most cases) idea of who, what, (maybe why) where and how they do what they do.

I know. I thought it would be nice to see what people were doing beyond their profile.

Like Harv, I put about as much as there was room to put in my profile. And since I recently had to get out of the air tool repair business, and this time of year with no garden to tend, but several doctors to support, I'm doing almost nothing except playing on the computer and slowly going broke (but not slowly enough)./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

My name is Ron, 43 yrs. old & live in southeastern Ohio about 60 miles from Pitts. Pa. I have two girls 11 & 12. Live in a 12 yr. old ranch home on 40 acres that I had built. Still had plenty of work with the outside. I mow about 8 acres the others are wooded hillside. Have a 30 x 40 pole building with a top level. I work in a steel mill, wife is a RN, working with a small home care company on the management side. Kids play softball in summer, I coach, hopefully I am done, but probably not. I have been working on lawn mowers the past several years. I get pretty busy in the spring. Usually do the spring maintenence to lawn tractors & push mowers. Taught myself most of what I know, which turned a few repair jobs into major projects, although there are a few good technical forums on the net for help. Hate the winter weather!

Thanks for the reply - nice to meet you. I have 2 very good friends in southeastern Ohio. One is from Vinton County (McArther) and the other is from Minford. They tell me that their towns are pretty small.

Regards,
Paul
