Who rides motorcycles?

Wouldn't you know it? My long time buddy with health problems gifts me this FJR1300 wonderful machine, and then it snows and stays at or below freezing...Full disclosure, I don't like to ride in weather below 60F anyway. Don't have the gear for cold. This bike doesn't have heated grips.
But it is a cream puff. 4500 miles, new Michelins. Heaviest bike I've ever owned. Previous heaviest was 98 R1 1000.
I've taken the bags off, to facilitate getting on and off easier. I'll put them on if I need them. This is not the same bike as my other friend's that I've mentioned that has a stealthy custom turbocharger on it. That thing is a rocket and really needs to run on 100LL avgas.
This one is stock but still no slouch.

Yamaha puts some nice motors in their bikes. I’ve owned a couple. I had an XSR900 that was a blast. Also had a MT07 as a commuter for a while.

I have a buddy that had one. He said it was a rocket ship. He was going to get in trouble if he kept it. Lots of long distance riders have FJRs. Very reliable, and very fast. 4,500 miles is nothing on that bike.

When Uncle Sam decided I needed to live in Germany for 3 years back in the 80’s, I shipped this instead of a car. Fast bike and autobahns……

Got the bike new, still in the garage. I did the paint. Suzuki made this model/displacement in blue and white and always thought red would look better.

The FJR1300's are deceptively fast! I rode along with a buddy with one from Birmingham to Houston. He's sometimes rock along at 130mph whereas my Harley was stretching at 110, that is before I made major improvements putting in all S&S guts. Even then, I would not be comportable at 130, even if that were possible.

Most any Litre+ Japanese supersport-engined bike, is definitely a license-threatening missile.

You don't have to worry about me going that fast for anything over a half mile . My other buddy's with the custom turbo will bury the tach at redline in top gear. He figures it is close to 180.

I live in an area that has the most perfect, "get the cobwebs out," sort of ride. I just go out Highway 58, turn in at Westfir to access 19, soak a bit at the Cougar Hot Springs, and return on 128. This is exactly the range my bike can do, with a little margin, on one full tank. 13 dollars well spent.

Looks like a great area to run through (y)
