To go a step farther, I have a very cool little old car that gets 48mpg. It looks sporty, fun to drive, and thanks to the .gov we can't have this anymore.

No I am not sorry
lol yeah no, I work in a mining camp, so I stay there for 14 days straight then I go home for 14 days. So it's 746 miles round trip but only once a month.Wow, you got to work right at quitting time. I hope you didn't go home that evening.
I had a GL1800 when I purchased a Prius. Quit riding the Goldwing 10 miles to work. Jacket, gloves, helmet, garage door, lots of time for a 10 mile ride when I could just jump in the car and go at 50+ MPG on tires that cost same to replace 4 at 40,000 miles as 2 on Goldwing at 8,000 miles. But where's the fun in driving a Prius???
You are absolutely correct, though. I haven't been on a road bike in years but my brother tells me his Honda Goldwing is lucky to break 30 mpg. Airport rental gave me a Prius to drive for a week, it averaged 52 mpg! And it had a roof for when it rains, heat for when it was cold and ac for when it was hot!
Factor the cost of tires. My FZ09 will average 50mpg, at 120hp and 400 pounds wet.
Pretty fuel efficient, and a lot more fun than a Prius, at a fraction of the cost.
Different tools for different jobs.
