Right on.. all braking should be done before your turn in point.

A street principle I had to 'unlearn' at the racetrack while I was working down to an AMA qualifier pace. Of course that's on warmed race tires with proper body position... you work toward braking all the way to the apex improving lean angle by 15-degrees, where you transition to throttle. Took me months to get it down and I still have to work on it - to get it close to right. In my mind I calibrate by feeling like I'm throwing myself at the apex on a bungee and managing the curve with the brake until I gently as possible roll on throttle.

I also find myself doing it riding enduro, but with a whole different set of rules.

I spent my childhood into my late 20s in the AMA outdoor, as well as NETRA single track up here. Just got a new KTM after a long time away from the off-road. Been out a couple times and it's still as much fun as I remember it being. Hoping to do a few turkey runs and 1 or 2 enduros this year.

Interesting. I have heard of that technique, but I have never ridden M/Cs on the track. I wonder: would ABS on a street bike change when you braked on a curve?

ABS on a street bike is for threshold/panic braking. If you're on the brakes that hard all the way to the apex, you're gonna die. The heavy braking should be done before the turn, then less and less as you approach the apex, then start rolling on the throttle out of the turn. It's called "trail braking" as opposed to the braking you do when you just go in too hot... that's called something else the word filters don't allow here. :D

Yes, exactly what you said. And I wouldn't want the ABS (or linked either for that matter) on my street bike either.. I believe I can do better than either on my own!

Soon all bikes will have ABS just like the cars and trucks do...

I'm not a real fan of the ABS and linked brakes, that said it did help me one time.
Kind of my fault riding in a heavy rain storm at quitting time on a multi-lane highway,
bumper to bumper traffic at 65+mph with an A hole right on my butt, all of a sudden traffic slowing down and a car cut in front of me
as he was braking heavy, the abs let the front and back just slip a bit as I was braking heavy and heading over for the shoulder.

And that’s unfortunate , and one reason I intend to keep my old 2007 FLTRI.

My 2019 goldwing has ABS as well as selectable Torque Control. An airbag is also an option that I didn't get.
