I'm interested to find out who makes this boom pole. There are no tags but it looks like old Ford blue paint. I'm curious in finding out an approximate year and lifting capacity. It looks heavily built very similar to some Howse models I've seen except they are red. I can lift it by myself so it's not super heavy--but I guess most boom poles can be lifted off the ground by the operator. Let me know if you can point me in the correct direction or have any suggestions as to where I might find information about its origin. Thanks, Thomas

Could be but I don't think this one is. It's too "good" if that makes any sense. All the angles are spot on, etc. No signs of a homemade job, even a good homemade job. I suspect this one is factory built.

Yes. Similar but subtle differences.

May I humbly suggest that the differences you find are within the probable scope of design creep over a few years of production?

I think it is a old ford one like you are guessing. It looks like it well handle anything a cat 1 hitch can left.
As being homemade, If you look at some of the work that some of the guys are doing on here, you sure can't tell by looking if it was homemade or not. Some of the guys sure know how to make things even better than the factory. I have seen alot of factory built junk.

xtn, true. That is another possibility. I haven't found many other boom pole manufactures that have a two slot top link bracket.

lee, I agree about the homemade stuff--I'm one of them :) I don't like to make junk. In fact, search my name and you'll see the log splitter I designed to be tougher than most factory jobs you'll find. The paint is what leaned me towards Ford but someone could have painted it to match there Ford when they bought it. The paint for sure looks old but my best guess is that is has seen a few outdoor days. I have searched for a factory Ford boom pole with a bracket with two top link poles that came factory and haven't found one yet.

Right now it looks to be an older Howse painted Ford blue ;)
