Synthetic oil has a proven record. The tests, the races and the mechanics. So yes I’m making the same mistake as Porsche, GM and Merc. Call us all fools.

Actually I think the one who “fell for it” is the one who went out and bought a bad tractor then went out, bought the same tractor again and got another bad one. You wouldn’t know anyone who “fell” over that stone twice would you, bud?

I didn't buy the second tractor Rob-D. That was a free replacement by Cub. That one broke as well and I was offered a third...I took a refund check instead. You can take your foot out of your mouth now.
Relax over the synthetic oil...gotcha..LOL!!!:D Just joking around...bud!;)

Just having fun with the synthetic oil topic Rob-D. I use syn. oil in my wife's Tahoe. I plan on using it in my 2320 once it's broken in as well as my Duramax. :)

I wouldn't put walmart oil in my pushmower....uh oh, I'm going to get blasted by all the Wal-Mart SuperTech oil fans...

Good thing you told me. I was just getting ready to come over and mix sand in with your Wally Wart oil!

Synthetic oil is NOT snake oil. It's just oil made by synthesis that manufactures oil that has NO bad actors in it like is in dino oil. Dino oil has to go through a huge amount of processing: atmospheric and vacuum distillation, (solvent extraction using furfural, phenol or other solvent to remove undesirable, reactive aromatic molecules, dewaxing to remove wax and hydrofinishing to take out MOST of the remaining bad actors) OR very high pressure hydrotreating followed by dewaxing and possibly some hydrofinishing. Despite all this processing, there are STILL some minute amounts of bad actors left in the oil, and it has to have up to 20% of chemical additives to bring it up to snuff on final specifications. The remaining bad actors and some of the additives allow the oil to break down or to sludge up in contact with reactive blow-by chemicals from engine combustion.

Whereas, synthetics are oils made by putting together just the right amount of molecules to make final specification oil with very little to no additives and NO bad actors in it.

The truth is in the testing. Synthetics have ALWAYS proven the best in terms of less wear, etc. in long term testing.

I worked in the industry for 31 years before retiring, in the engineering/manufacturing end but read all the research and long term test results that were done during this period.

Dargo,
Did you run them through head-first, or tail-first? Should be obvious that you want your snake-oil to be produced head first... That's how you get the good "stuff" out. If you process them tail-first, you get "pure poison"...:D

Sorry, guys. Couldn't resist!
