Had one just like it! Well, maybe not exactly. It was same color, same body style, but with a six cylinder and three on the tree.
I had a 70 with a 230 straight six and three on the tree.
I had it bored .60 over. Put a 4 barrel and headers on it. A huge cam and a custom valve job. Crazy little car would scoot! I blew reverse out doing backward burnouts and swapped in a 4spd from a Monza. It cut the top speed from a tad over 110 to about 85, but boy it got there quick.

I also had a 62, a 71 and a 72. All six cylinders, but the others were 2 and 3spd automatics. Ahhh, the joy of $500 dollar cars. :D

Hah. My 59 Impala looks a heck of a lot more like an airplane than that thing!

Yep, but your '59 Impala looks like an UGLY airplane. . . with Power-Slide[SUP]TM[/SUP] transmission.

:(:(:( You really know how to hurt a guy...you're talking about a magazine centerfold! I love my '59; I think it's one of the most beautiful cars ever built. I'll admit it wasn't love at first sight, but a love borne of 12 years of ownership, numerous car shows and a LOT of TLC. Not to mention it's been in the family since new. If you're interested, I have some provacative photos of the beautiful old girl....

I have got to say...even if I won the lottery...I would not want this car...you become a target big time...I also would not want a 40,000 sq. ft Mansion for the same reason plus it is like living in a museum...cold and not a bit homey...as far as I'm concerned , I agree with all the muscle cars of the past...I would love a fleet of those...In fact I would just like to have the ones I owned and sold back again....1959 Morris minor, 57 chevy, 58 T bird, 55 ford, 53 chevy, 67 chevy convert...brand new in '67, several VW bugs & one squareback, chevy Vega, 66 mustang ..brand new, one brown 68 jag xke and on 69 yellow xke bought in the mid 70's...then sold...sad, various trucks and other cars I can't think of right now...I wish I had them all back..before I would want a Rolls...Oh yeah, I forgot I had to Porsches too...one 1956 - 356 and a 1978 911 targa...now that was a sweet car...all white , black removable top and a black whale tail...there were more ...I'll keep thinking...

Me, neither. Every time I see a Rolls Royce, I'm reminded of a car dealer called Overseas Motors that used to be in Dallas. They sold Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Austin Healey, MG, etc., right on down to the showroom new 1962 Austin Healey Sprite that I bought for $2,200. Now I know that Rolls Royce builds fine automobiles, but every time I was around that dealership, I was surprised to see Rolls Royce and Bentley cars in the shop for the same little problems you expect with a Ford or Chevy.

I also would not want a 40,000 sq. ft Mansion for the same reason plus it is like living in a museum...cold and not a bit homey...as far as I'm concerned

Good timing. The Dallas Morning News has recently been running photos of expensive homes in the area; some for sale, some not. I've seen prices from $1.2 million to $9 million. And I haven't seen a single one that I would want to have to live in if they gave it to me.
