PTO Shaft that is. :D

I'm thinking of building a 3PH snowblower over the next few months. My tractor is a class 1 GC2300 machine.

Just wondering how extreme I can go in cutting a PTO shaft. My C-to-C length in my drawing is 17" - almost no angle, this seems really short but I have absolutely no knowledge or experience with PTO driven implements. Before I modify my drawing I'd like to hear from folks with experience or maybe a picture to show how short of a shaft they've successfully ran.

Thanks!

What will be the extended length when fully raised and fully lowered?

What will be angle on the U-joints at the extreme dimensions above?

If only moving 2 inches off center not to critical if 10 inches could be a big problem.
