That's a surreal story, 855Idiot. I might actually have to stop in at a church for the first time in my life if that ever happened to me.
It's the diametrical opposite of the story I've had with my 318. I bought it for maximum market value a few years ago and now it's currently sitting in my barn sans a working engine. The P218 Onan is in pieces with a bad engine block (bad cam & crank bearing races due to some hackmanship in the tractor's tainted past). There are apparently few replacement engines to be found except for the $1500 Honda's on eBay or the 1800 hour junk smokers. I have far too much money and time invested in meticulous maintenance and service to just burp it away for its current $500 value; Sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Heck, I even bought a replacement John Deere emblem for the front of the grille as I was getting ready to repaint the sheet metal and a brand new battery which has now been sitting on a conditioner for the last year!
