I grew up on a small farm,gardening and haying,we had horses that plowed the gardens we had an old ford tractor that we used to break new ground but my grandfather always plowed with the drafts. i hated working inthe gardens till i moved away to the city, didnt realize how much farming was apart of me! my husband and i rasie mules.work our butts off in hay season but love every min of it..i trail ride w/the mules and pack in the mountains of west virginia. i use the draft mules to help clean the fields, draging brush. and tree trunks. pulling a hay sled, ol maudie girl will be glad to take a break for field work now that we got a tractor. LOL i figure we can use it to clean out ditches in ft of barn, and all kinds of other jobs.. not sure i can get hubbby out of the seat long enough for me to take it for a spin LOL Rose /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Born / raised in small town of Iota, La. (pop. about 1000), farming & oilfield were the two major industries in our area. Always did like to "play in the dirt" & after going to work for construction co. as a truck driver moving dozers, trackhoes, etc., I became a combination driver / equip. operator. After divorce, remarried, & went to work for major oil co., truck driver & dispatcher. When we bought 2.78 ac. in town, I convinced wife we needed a tractor to take care of all this land. I found a Bolens G 152, 15 hp diesel / 4' grooming mower on 3ph. Got transferred to Victoria, Tx, in 1996, & bought home & 7ac. out of town. One evening after consuming large glass of adult beverage, I tried to pass that Bolens & 4' mower between 2 oak trees that were 3' 10" apart. Damage = 2 broken castings where lower lift arms connected to cast iron rear housing (serious rupture case !). Telling welder friend about this, he advised me of 1715 & tools for sale by customer of his. After second adult beverage, we went look @ mechine, & made deal. Now back in La. on 10+ ac. / very few trees, & they're spread FAR apart.
