'White' brand tractor - what is it?

\'White\' brand tractor - what is it?

From time to time I see these listed in Equipment-Trader type magazines.

They look large, powerful, simple, inexpensive. Prices seem real reasonable for a 10? year old used unit. Lots of cheap horsepower.

I can't find any mention of them here. What are they? Are they equivalent to a name brand? Do they share parts with anything?

I don't know a lot about them, but I think Agco bought the White Tractor company from Allied Products in '91. There are still quite a few of them around, and I think many of the parts are interchangeable with Oliver tractor parts. From what I've seen, the White tractors are good machines, but the only one I've used was an old 50hp White that I used about 9 years ago to rake hay and move hay bales. And I really liked that one.

White was bought by Agco a while back parts should be available throught any Agco Dealer.

My next door neighbor has a 32hp White 4wd that he bought burnt up. He almost has it back together, has had it running. It looks like a well built machine. He paid $1000 for it with a FEL but claims to have almost $5000 in it now, had to replace 3 tires (2 rears) and all hoses and wiring. The motor is an Iseki (sp)

I think you will find the whole tractor is an Iseki like all other Agco/Massey Compacts.

White was purchased by AGCO as stated, and AGCO continued building and selling White tractors until 2001. They still sell the White Planter line. In 2001, AGCO merged their White and AGCO-Allis lines into the AGCO brand.

Many of the White compacts were built by Iseki in Japan, although some were built by Fiat in Italy (White 2-50 & 2-60). Various other models were built by Fiat, Same, Lamborghini and of course by White themselves in the USA.

White tractors wer formed in 1963 from the merger of the Oliver, Cockshutt and Minneapolis tractor brands.

Support for these should be found at any AGCO dealer with little problems.
