Hello,
I own a white 6105. Has been an absolute gem of a tractor, hard on fuel though. Lol. My wife went to start it last week to feed her horses as it is our main chore tractor and she said it was ticking, but wouldn't start. She thought it was dead and put the batter charger on it and let me know about it when i got home from work.
After i looked into it i realized the battery was quite old so i bought a new one, after installing that still nothing, so i ordered a new starter and installed that when it came in the to the parts shop. When i go to turn the key all the lights come on on the dash, its the volts are good, but when you turn the key to activate the starter still nothing. So i checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. I went back through my phone to make sure i installed all the wires correctly on the starter, all seems good. (Handy thing about smart phones taking pictures so you know how to put them back together)
As my last resort, i know its not ok to do this, but i had to see if it was another bad starter, i took a screw driver and jummped the starter to see if it would work. It sparks instantly and is ticking. So i think its fine?
I took off the new starter, put the old one back in and yep for sure this old one is no good, so i hook up the starter just so i can see the gear moving at the end and jump it to see it spinning. All good with the new one.
My issue is when its installed in the tractor and its up against the fly wheel it wont crank it over for whatever reason ane the when you turn the key it wont even engage the starter.
Any advice on how to get it running?
