WHINE OR SQUEAL

I have a international cub cadet 154 with a loader . my problem is when I start it there is a constant hydraulic whine or squeal , however when I move controls to rise or lower the bucket to noise goes away, or if I squeeze the large return line the noise gets lower pitch. The bucket seems to work ok but I don't know how much it will lift yet. the return hose is 2 or 3 times bigger that the pressure, could that made it whine? Please Help Thank You John M

Not sure what hose you are talking about, but most all the hose are the same size except the suction hose.

The suction hose would be the only hose that you might be able to compress

Have you checked the fluid level and filters?

A hyd pressure gage would be a big help.

With no levers activated, there should be no pressure.

What is the position of the 3pt levers. Should not be if fully raised/max up, but slightly down to neutral.

If all the way up, you will hear the relief going off.

Thanks for your reply. It is the suction hose . It works fine and no noise when you move levers , But you get the noise when the levers are in neutral position . You get the same noise as when auto transmission is low on fluid but the fluid level is ok. I don't understand why it makes noise in the neutral position or why the noise decreases when you squeeze the suction hose .John M

Try and found out if your tractor has a suction screen. If it does try cleaning that. The pump is trying to pump more then it is getting.

Thanks I will try that. But the suction line looks big compared to pressure line I know it is usually but this is 3 or 4 times bigger than pressure line? (Note this is not factory system someboby made it up for the loader works ok except for noise.)

I just put a engine in a Deutz-Allis and the suction line is real big and the pressure is only 3/8 or 1/2".
