I noticed that when I would run over pine saplings, around 1"-2" diameter spaced out in my pasture, at about 2500 rpm the cutter would chop up the saplings just fine. But than I noticed an odd vibration. I shut the machine down (lowered the FEL and set the brake:thumbsup:) after I raised the cutter, looked underneath and one if the blades was folded under the stump-jumper. I moved it around and it was free. Then I started again, ran over a few more and it started vibrating again. I got off and checked again. Same thing, one blade folded under the stump jumper, and the other swung out. The longer I used it and hit little saplings, (dead branches, and whatnot), it would vibrate again. I would disengage the pto, reduce to idle, wait for it to stop turning, and then reengage the pto. The vibration would go away:confused:. Is this normal? I even tried running it wide open and lower rpm, does the same thing.

Edit: well this is embarrassing, I tried to fix my thread title and cannot can anyone help?

yes an no. yes it's normal... the blades are swinging back from an obstacle instead of damaging something. problem is they can get so far back, and as small as they are.. are not swinging back into place. 2" is getting 'big' for an xb line of mower IMHO.

do the blades swing 100% free with no binding and no debri building up under the shoulder bolts?

lower ground speed will liekly help.. slow down when you hit the wee pine forrest.. let it cut them more than bash and bounce..

My 48" hog does the same thing now and then. I just run over another small tree and it flips it back in place. It is a little weird at first but hen you start and get used to it happening now and then.

Those large saplings are a bit large to cut normally. I hit a large rock and it swung the blades back and bent them. These mowers do a lot but not over an inch brush before they complain, lucky you just swung one arm back.
