I figure one of you hard core truck guys will know right off the bat.

I was just curious if it was the e04d or not?

Yes, it should be the E4OD.

The transmission in your truck is a 4R100.

Two side notes that may be of some value to you.
1. The early F350 only used an air to oil cooler and this was insufficient for some uses. There was a TSB that included routing the transmission cooling lines through the radiator (water to oil cooling) and then the air to oil cooler.
2. The torque converter was very noisy. It would sound horrible at idle, but some people would mistaken it for diesel noise. There was a TSB for this also.
3. There was a slight difference in '99 trucks as the early ones had some different engine components and brakes, so there are times when the build date is needed to ID the correct parts. Some people refer to the later ones as 99.5. Feb or March was the break point for the 99.5 if memory serves me correctly.

FYI... I just got rid of my 99.5 4x4 dually with 95,000 miles a few months ago.

my 350 is a early one. in fact.. build date of 12/98 for a 99 yr model. And i have noticed a few differences to my late 99 450. there are some dash light differences too at the 99 split as well. the old one don't got it.. the newer ones does. :)

i'll forget which one i'm driving and think.. gee that's odd. then remember the differneces

Go to dieselstop.com and pose the question to member Mark Kovalsky. Ford transmission engineer for 20 plus years. He'll have a definitive answer.
