Which Tiller???

Need (want) a tiller for my CK30. I'm down to 2. The KK from TSC or a Taylor Pittsburg from my dealer. They are about the same price and the dealer will deliver and set up. I've never heard of a Taylor Pittsburg and not much info on the internet. I have no reason not to trust my dealer but I am a tractor newbie.

I can't speak to the Taylor Pittsburg, but I've read many good things about the KK from TSC and I like mine so far. This time of year you might find a close-out price on it from TSC.

I would love a KK tiller for my CK30 but haven't pulled the trigger as it is hard to justify. I have used a Landpride of 60" width from a rental place and the CK30 is more than capable. It is a very satisfying thing to till a 60" wide swath into perfect seed bed from the comfort of a tractor seat.

If it were me, I would look into some of the reverse tillers. I think in hard ground they would be exceptionally good. I like my kioti tiller a bunch, but I will by a reverse tiller next go round.

I am in the same boat (a ck30 hst looking for a tiller). I like the KK 48" for both the extra weight and the gear drive, however, the only local source no longer carries or will order the 48" version. Shipping charges would kill the deal for me if I bought by mail.

Do you have any suggestions for a reverse tiller? And do they make any RT's with gear drive?

I know Land Pride makes a reverse tiller. There is a company that makes something that acts like a tiller/pulverisor combo... Blec USA
I believe FFC makes them both ways. I would have to think Woods makes one, and I have seen some others that do not come to mind.

Why would you want a skinny 48" tiller with a 60" wide tractor? Price difference is minimal and the 30 HP should be plenty for a 60" wide tiller.

When tilling an area I find that the tractor acts like a plow puller meaning if you ride up on the untilled ground with one wheel and the tilled ground with the other, your tilled surface will end up with steps and uneven.

If you are able to till a full swath from the firm footing of untilled ground then everything is flatter.

Maybe I was doing it wrong but I rented both a 48" tiller and a 60 or 66 incher and I really liked the big one better.

Have decided to go with the TP tiller from the dealer. The same price as the KK and this dealer has been the best. He will bring it out today and set it up and show me how to work (play) with my new toy. Will send pics when it arrives. Hope it is OK to tell the dealers name. You could, at least in theory, till a 4ft wide swath, then another parallel one, with up to 4ft of undisturbed soil between them - - right, then take out the center strip with both sets of your tractor wheels in similar tilled dirt.

Not a problem for me, I have the 6ft KK II all gear on a 66 inch wide tractor.

Well the dealer brought the tiller by and hooked it up and gave me some instruction and off I went. Wow!!! This thing is great. 50" gear drive. The CK30 hardly knows it is back there.
