Spring is here and the mowing will be starting soon. I am getting ready to purchase a 5' Rotary Cutter to go behind my TC29 to mow my little 5 acres here in Colorado. I also end up mowing for some of my neighbors. Does anybody have an opinion on the best cutter to buy? Anybody have good luck with a particular brand? I previously had a 4' John Deere cutter behind my Kubota B7500 but I sold those and need a new cutter.

I've been looking at the Landpride and John Deere and I think I will buy a cutter with a slip clutch this time rather than the shear bolt.

Hey Zip!
I can't say much about the Deere, but the Landpride is a good cutter. I have a 5' Field General that has served me well though my brother has a Landpride and it is awesome! Good luck with your decision.

I looked at Landpride and really liked the 5' model, but I went with a Tebben medium duty 5' rotary cutter due to cost. I have no complaints with the Tebben. You definitely want a slip clutch. Jay

P.S. It sounds like you got everything worked out with your "29". They are great tractors. I really like mine.

Quite a few people on here like King Kutter stuff... Maybe give them a look over too? Their site has some good information and sizes, etc. :)

Bushhog
Rhino
Landpride

in that order

Go with whoever your local dealer has (since they'll be able to support it)

a 5' isn't very expensive, spend the extra 100 bucks and step up from a King Kutter

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all of the advise, I'll do some shopping and see what I can find out. My local dealer sells Rhino, John Deere and Landpride. I'll check out the King Kutter web site to see what they have.

JBrum my TC29 is going great. My local dealer (Potestio Brothers) really stepped up to the plate and helped me out with the tractor. The dealership in Texas even sent me a refund check to cover the cost of repairs. It pays to stand up for what is right. Of course New Holland helped out also.

With all of the snow we had this year I couldn't have made it without my little TC29. I love the tractor and it is very comfortable to drive.

Ironically, my local NH dealership is going exclusively to John Deere and dropping NH and Kubota :( (traitors). I wish I had the money to open my own NH dealership.

Hey Cowboy I've seen your adds in the Fence Post.......Good luck to you. I'll keep you in mind if I need anything done.

Again thanks to all of you.

P.S. Why doesn't anybody buy the NH cutters? The blue color match would look good.

I have a LandPride 6' rotary cutter (RC2572) that is absolutely - well close to it - indestructable. Cost around $1900 new, but it's built like a tank. Has a clutch rather shear pins, so that makes it easy.

I've had it for 3 years now and never sharpened the blades and it still cuts great. I use a NH TN65 to mow my pastures.

Good luck!!!

When I was looking at tractors last year the local NH dealer was selling BushHog brand cutters that were already painted NH blue. Don't know why but they didn't stock or recommend a NH cutter.

I started looking at all kinds of brands before purchasing my Mohawk 6'. The first thing i noticed was that john deere and bush hog brands were WAY higher than any of the others. WHY??? Well, its red and says bush hog on , thats why. When you look at the specs on them, they are very comparable to smaller companies shredders. I ended up gettting one that was comparable (and in some cases better) than the bush hog brand and it was 600 bucks cheaper. So...don't go looking at price alone. That goes both ways, i know people who buy bush hog because its bush hog and others that buy other brands because they are cheap. Do your research and youll end up witha fine shredder.

After all, the idea behind this machine is that grass is laying down after you run over it, right?
