I'm looking at purchasing either a BXM42 or a BX42 Wallenstein chipper. Most of the initial use will be for chipping branches etc. however I also have clippings from shrubs around the house and also from our prennial flower beds that will be an every year task. In your opinion is the additional cost of the BMX worth it not??

Sounds like you have some lightweight stuff to mulch, in addition to branches. I have a BX42 and am very frustrated when I try to put light stuff through it, such as willow branches. They tend to clog the chute immediately unless I am very careful to put them through with a batch of heavier branches.

If the BXM42 had been available when I bought mine, and knowing what I know now, I would buy the BXM42.

This is not to say that I'm unhappy with the BX42. It does what it's supposed to do, which is chip branches, and it does that very well.

When using the shredder option you will soon forget the higher cost. The BXM reduces everything to chips and mulch very quickly. Fresh shredded material comes out almost as compost. Even the BXM32 can reduce smaller trees to a memory (except for the stump) in a lot less time than it would take to collect them into a burn pile. It's getting harder in my area to burn brush, which was my main reason for getting it.

Don't forget to order it in matching paint :)
