which heavy duty mower for 3010

I am using a RD7200 Woods rear discharge finishing mower on our yard with a 3010 and am getting along fine. You can't go wrong with a Woods, Landpride, or Bushog brand mowers. You can debate a 3point hitch mower like I have to Kubota's belly mower for quite a while and it has been done so on this board. It's all a matter of personal preference or what you have been used to mowing with.

thanks for the quick reply, I wasn't even thinking about the mid-mount mower since I thought it would not do well in tall rough thick matted grasses and berries...is that right?

I have a 6' king kutter behind my 2910 and does a very good job.

...that is what i am a bit confused about...how much "brushy" tall grass etc a finish mower will handle...and or how much of a decent job will the rear brush mower do on regular grass...

I use a Bush Hog 265 medium duty rotary with my L3010. I've tackled everything from grass to 4" diameter trees with no problems. It works great.

I'll take a shoot at your question even though I don't use a finish mower. From what people have said in the past, a belly mower will cut down some field grass, but may take several passes the first time. IF you are looking at any small trees, stumps or rocks, you don't want to use a belly mower. Now a rotary mower will take on all of that and more. It will also cut your grass, but it will be a choppy type of cut. In some areas a rotary mower is called a shredder because it beats thing apart as it cuts them. That is great for fields and not as pretty for fine grass.
