Where\'s the cheapest place to buy a B&S starter?

My 18 hp TwinII Briggs&Stratton blew the starter windings today. It is almost 10 years old. Anyone know the cheapest place to find a new starter for it?

Here is the place that we buy engines f, they are normally the least expensive and have the best selection. I would at least check with them. They ship everywhere. Tulsa Engine Warehouse

Hi Jim, I know you said "new" starter in your post. A new one is going to cost you at least $100 plus shipping, they are not cheap. Why not try a local small engine repair shop for a good used one? The starter for that engine is very common and there should be lots to be found on junk engines. I am sure you can find a good one for about $20.

Check the phone book for motor repair too, usually they can be fixed with NEW brushes and maybe a comutator grind, cost usually less than 35.00 look under motor repair and under automotive for rebuild/remanufactures starters & alternators.

I live in Paxton. I did check around today at the local places. It seems the price is around $135.00 and they need to order it. I forgot about Ebay. I checked there tonight and got a new starter for $67.95 delivered. What a crock to be able to buy it so cheap with a 2 year warranty to boot. My starter was fried as it threw the windings. It has nopt had an easy life. My Cub Cadet 7275 will be doing most of the mowing now and will give this machine a rest now.
