I was reading some old threads tonight and I noticed how quick we all are to point out perceived safety issues, I thought it might be fun to show some real safety pics.
Heres one I had of tractor shade coffee break..........Craig

If you look at the shadow being cast by the standing man, it is apparent the sun is not directly overhead. Since the sun is at an angle, it is possible the workers only appear to be under the backhoe, but might actually be on the opposite side of the hoe, yet still in the shade. (That would be my argument if I was sitting across the table from an OSHA inspector).

Possible....perhaps. Probable......nah. Stupid....definitely.

I doubt they are under the tractor, but if they are, what is the point of having it up on its buckets!?

And for that last picture, that is completely idiotic...

Nah, I would say the sun is either at 11:30, or 12:30. depending on which way the sun is moving, left to right or right to left.

I think they are under the tractor, as their shadow is not visible. If they were on the other side of the tractor, their shadow would be visible. If only two people were in the sun, you would only see two shadows.

The sun is not shinning on the4 guys at all, and their clothes are dull looking, compared to the man standing. His shadow is showing.

If they were sitting in the shade on the other side of the tractor, there would be sun under the tractor.

The bucket stabilizes the tractor.

I don't think a safety helmet would be of any help here.
