( point (not well made) on John Deere is that they are getting cheap. Building products were the labor is cheap and using cheap materials. I bought a Kubota. Yes its made in Japan. And yes its workmanship and quality of materials is far superior to a Deere of greater price. Why's that? Kubota's customer based and Deere's profit based. )

papaperk, not meaning to sound rude or insulting but please go to the home page, hit the kubota buying and priceing or owning and operating forum and bash John Deeres in that forum. this is the jd forum and i may only be speaking for myself here, but i love my john deere and i think that they are second to non in quality and workmanship, user friendlyness, and resale value. so please imho don't bash them here. thank you!

( I hate to burst your bubble but I would venture a guess that Kubota is 'profit based' also, you might find a reference to it in their annual report. Customer focus comes in at the dealer level and we've seen enough posts about good & not-so-good dealers of every color on this board. )

No...customer focus is at every level of business. You provide what the customer wants and profits will take care of themselves. A companies mission should be to provide what the customer wants, when they want it, and in the quanity they need. A company that can perform this task with mininum waste will be a sucess.

Well I like John Deeres too! I am currently looking for a 1989 or 1990 JD 430 garden tractor and planning to purchase a JD 730D (big tractor) for my next antique tractor in a year or two.

My point is simple. I feel that John Deere is making a lesser quality product now, than they have in the past. John Deere needs to always strive to be number one by providing industry leading quality and reliablity to their customers. And I will be more than happy to point it out when they are not doing this.
