Where to Stick the Spear

I like many have added a spear to their buckets. First attempt almost cost me a bucket as it darn near caved in the top of the bucket and that was with re-enforcment along the top edge. Second attempt did cave in the bucket but this one was without re-enforcement but was able to straighten and now using a v-e-r-y heavy piece of steel along the top. In the end I built a frame for a bale spear and it has worked perfectly. BTW I'm moving 1500# plus bales. This is for my JD. The bucket I caved in was on a smaller / older tractor that I needed to load my Bobcat 225 welder into my truck. After repairs works great now.
