Where to find a used aerator?

I'm looking for a USED aerator for my BX. Preferably it needs to be 48"-60" wide, 3PH mounted, and non-powered. Whether it is a core type or a spike model doesn't really matter. However, I am interested in a reasonably stout unit - none of these flimsy Home Depot jobs (they are not 3PH mounted anyway).

The trouble is, I can't find any! Those that I can find are either new (can you say "sticker shock"?), or ridiculously high priced for used equipment. Any suggestions where to look?

You may try a dealership that also rents equipment or a regular equipment rental yard.. One of the local JD dealers had a very stouch core aerator that was pull behind.. It looked like a very heavy duty one you can get at lowes/home depot/northernn tool. He wanted over $600 for it out of his rental fleet..

Im not sure if you have tried the box store aerators, but they can do a pretty good job.. I used a Sears ~48" core aerator on saturday (after getting about 2" of rain on Thurs/Fri) and it did an excellent job with only 106 lbs of weight.. I got about 1 to 2" cores, and it left the holes opened up very nicely for my grass seed and fertilizer to fall into.. lol

It's a bluebird and did a pretty good job for me this spring.
