Realistically, I don't think anyone wants to game the Moderators, they have a job to do, and 98% of the time we all appreciate it.

Me neither. It was just a wry comment about how this thing has gone.

You would think Ted or somebody else from EA would step up and state or defend their position. If they have, I apologise because I haven't seen it. They have had time to try to sell PHD augers here, however.
There have been instances where other members elaborated on problems with a specific dealer. That dealer is both a participant and advertiser here. That dealer has been open and forthcoming about the problems, the dealership's approach, and the solution. EE should pay attention and take a lesson from that. I think it would be more productive than using the forum moderators as a shield.

The original thread happened over the weekend and they never saw it before it turned into bashing and was closed. Same for the thread I linked to on why the thread was closed. See http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...achments-weekend-customer-service-thread.html for their thread on the matter.

I use to read this forum when it was just a bulletin board.

Don't remember any sponsors back then.

True. But if they value this site as a marketing tool and access point to thousands of potential customers per day, they should have picked up on this today and responded. If the owner of the box blade wasn't on the phone to EA today, shame on him for airing his laundry here and not where the problem could be addressed and corrected.

This issue is being addreessed here:

I hadn't seen this when I posted earlier.

They did, in a thread that they started.

I don't know what role advertisers play in the moderation of the forum. My guess would be that it is entirely the site's policies, though, and that advertisers are not directly involved.

And this is exactly why the original thread should have been left up for EA to respond to...but what do I know?[/QUOTE You would not have that problem if you bought locally instead of the big box store ! WALLY WORLD TRACTOR PARTS

And if I knew what in world you were talking about we'd all be in on the joke. :confused3:

This kind of forum bashing gets so old... censorship... big brother...you can't say anything about advertisers. Has anyone read the rules you agreed to when you signed up for the forum???? There have been many threads removed because someone had a problem with a non advertiser. It has to do with forum rules Terms of Use - TractorByNet.com read them. One of the biggest bashers has all of 6 posts, 5 are how unfair the forum is....well move on I say. This isn't about censorship, what makes anyone think you can say anything you want anywhere you want? Go to an airport and yell bomb, see what happens. This is a privately owned forum that set a standard of rules you have to adhere to if you want to participate. If you don't like the rules...move on. There are plenty of forums where you can yell and criticize anyone one or anything you want. It is rather refreshing to have one like this that keeps things civil.

For the record I do not think the OP on the original post was trying to start anything, it was the internet Rambo's that jumped in puffing their chests.

The response from the advertiser in the other thread was underwhelming.
But then I've been underwhelmed by them before. Which doesn't mean I don't bookmark their site
in my "farming" folder and use them as a resource and potential vendor.
And I really would like them to be successful. But these guys don't have smartphones on their hips and don't want them.

Lesson learned: discussions on Sundays can be problematic

Since many if not most farmers are not wealthy, not all of them can afford high end equipment. There is a huge market for value priced farm and garden machinery,
because so many of us aren't "cost no object" purchasers. So this guy's box blade with a minor construction defect seems like my subsoiler which looked like it fell off a truck at high speed and
got about a mile of road rash. And rust. But once I refinished it, it not only worked well, it looked "respectable". I don't like my equipment rusty, spray a lot of WD40 and other stuff to keep it away.
So when the new paint got scraped off, that was ok, I can see where the tool engaged the ground, like a high water mark. And I'll spray something once in a while on the bare metal parts.
So, for 500 bucks you don't get industrial powder coating on some of these implements for sure. I can live with that. Not sure I could live with a bad weld, so I'm likely to have to find someone to fix it.
I think the vendor understands that. Instead of a no questions return policy, they likely were trying to be helpful, because that is their nature. But as their poster stated in this recent thread they started,
sometimes simpler is better. Don't overthink it. Repair or refund, which would you like sir? Can we ship out a new one to you today?

No, you can't ship me a new one today. I just want you to understand my disappointment at getting a poorly crafted tool, and hope you can prevent this from happening to others.

Absolutely sir, we will notify production immediately and we hope to ease the disappointment by making sure you are satisfied from here on out. Is there anything we can do for you or show you?

No. I appreciate your understanding my upset here. I expected more and didn't get it.

Absolutely sir. Are there any other implements we can help you with to show you how well this can work?

Well, actually, I could use a York rake too. What do you have?

I don't want some guy telling me I'm going to **** in a handbasket if my tractor isn't green. Or red. Or Orange. Or that I drive a Chevy I must be brain dead. This is commonplace in other
forums, like car ones, where without a moderator, the game becomes who can throw in the most outrageous insult short of libel, and often not short at all.
I simply would prefer not to get the Scriptures quoted to me any more than I want the Koran quoted to me while I chat about engine mods.
So Moderators are important.

keep that in mind when "we" go poof. At least we will go out smiling.
I appreciate it extremely seldom -- maybe never. Ill gladly take care of myself under any attack or irritant ... and assist others having trouble where I can.

It's back. To clarify, we don't make any distinction between threads that discuss advertisers and companies that aren't advertisers when it comes to dealer/manufacturer complaint threads. Removing it was SOP. Yeah, this policy results in some threads getting removed that would otherwise be of value in some ways, but it saves everybody potential headache later on.

We didn't receive any request from anybody other than members who flagged the post. EA did not request the thread be removed.

The reason for reinstating this thread in particular is that the discussion seemed reasonable and I think a reply from EA would be appropriate.

Nice to see your input Muhammad.
The "other" thread, started by EA in response to the original deleted thread, seems to have a happy ending.
Suggest to anyone if they haven't read the EA response thread, you do it, as it speaks to many of the issues here.

But this OP wants to know where the thread went. Members flagged the post. We have the power to do that.
There is, for want of a better word, self-policing going on, as moderators cannot read every post immediately.
I am relatively new to this forum, enjoy it greatly, and had no idea what the limitations of the forum were until they smacked me in the
face several times, and threads I was reading simply disappeared. Reminded me of book burning. Still not comfortable with that idea, but understand the necessity
when I see the anarchy on other online forums.

The issue that will not get resolved here is that of expectations. We now expect, for right or wrong, our mail order/internet order purchases to come in perfectly. Yes, your box blade is about to get seriously
scuffed up and dirty, but when you receive it, it should be just like your new computer monitor, or your new toaster oven that you got by UPS, perfect. No dents. Your wife going to want that toaster oven with a big
dent in it sitting on her counter, even if it is "fully functional"? Unlikely. Similarly, no poor quality welds or manufacturing "vacations". And that's what it sounds like on this box blade, a "vacation". Where someone didn't do a quality job, and no one in QC thought it was important. Why? because the test rod went through. That was the quality test needed to be passed. Not outstanding fit and finish. The purchasers expectations are not being met by the smaller implement manufacturers, many of whom think things don't have to look good, they just have to work well. The OP in his own way likely wanted the box blade builder to know what was done poorly, because the OP, at least, was proud to buy Made In USA. And when you get your Made in USA product, and it looks worse than Harbor Freight, well that bothers a lot of us.

I'm glad this discussion is ongoing, and I'd like to hear more from the members who have been here at least five years, who have a better perspective of the long haul and what seems to work. And not work. If, as Muhammad has clearly stated, this discussion "stays reasonable", then it can continue.

... what makes anyone think you can say anything you want anywhere you want?

First amendment :confused3:

Seems everyone wants to protect their 2nd amendment rights, while the 1st goes by the wayside :scratchchin:
