Where do you carry your gun on your tractor?

Now that I have the tractor, I was wondering where would be best to put a gun? Don't have big enough place to have need for a high powered rifle, or Ar. Was thinking super Blackhawk mounted in a left handed holster mounted to right hand side roll bar. Would need to be leather and removable or kydex hard mounted with holes for drainage. Don't like a floppy holster, would rather have a retention system of some kind. Loaded with rat shot and semi wad cutters should do ok for small critters. What do you use?

For "small critters" I would use a .410 shotgun or a .22 cal rifle like a Ruger 1022. Put it in a hard case like the ones you see on ATV's.

Yep, you can count on that.. Criminals in Australia don't have guns.
Hey k0ua...... I have relatives that live in Austrailia and I can asssure you that criminals in Austrailia do indeed have guns. The citizenry on the other hand, while it's true that Australia has restrictive firearms laws, rifles and shotguns (including semi-automatic), as well as handguns are all legal within a narrow set of criteria.

I guess you did not see my "sarcasm" font. Of course criminals in Aus. have guns. They probably have the majority of guns.. But old WeedPharma there is a gun hater, and believes the world would be all unicorns and rainbows if we could just get rid of those evil things. I have never understood that line of thinking that an inanimate object was evil and "has only one purpose" and all of that tommy-rot. PEOPLE are evil, PEOPLE kill others unjustifiably. PEOPLE commit crimes. PEOPLE commit suicide. But it must be nice to think that if we could just "make them all go away" things would be so much better. We pass laws to "control guns" limit magazines, or try to limit the action types that are legal for sale. It is all insanity. Lawmakers are the most worthless, stupidest disingenuous people on the face of the earth. Rant font off.

I agree with the on-your-person posters. This assumes that you are after self defense security. As to shooting varmints from the tractor, I have mixed feelings. One should obey applicable wildlife regulations. Personally, I think feral pigs ought to be shot on sight.

James ...Years ago when I was a LEO...Our City passed a law forbiding citizens to own handguns in the city limits without obtaining a very expensive permit...Those who chose not to buy the permit could turn their handguns into the police station...I witnessed citizens turning in WWII German Lugars ..obviously war souvenirs as well as all other wonderful classic handguns of all eras....all to be melted down...It broke my heart to see it...I never witnessed one criminal turning in a handgun...All that ordinance did was disarm citizens who could not afford the licenses and clear the field of resistance for the burglars and home invaders since they still had their guns...

These people who actually believe criminals will turn in their guns are crazy....It is against the law now for the criminals to have guns...so why do they think disarming honest, law abiding citizens will reduce crime or make them safer...?????

Here is the "mindset" of people that pass and long for gun laws:

1: "something must be done"
2: we are doing "something"
3: Therefore we are improving the bad situation.
4: Symbolism over substance is a valid political position.

Whether I am armed or not, on my tractor or not, is none of your business. When I am armed, it is concealed, so that two legged varmints do not modify their inherent behavior. I stay conversant with the permissible uses of deadly force and if confronted I have no qualms about applying it. I consider it a responsibility to remove deadly animals (or people instead) of avoiding them, leaving them to find an unprepared victim. An armed society is a polite society. There would be less crime and fewer bad guys if more people had the same philosophy. I carry a 9x18 Makarov IWB almost everywhere. I have found that by drilling a 1/8th hole, 1/8in deep in my bullets, adding one drop of mercury and sealing with JB weld gives a better effect than my 1911

I like to carry a norinco SKS 7.62X39 muzzle down in a section of black sewer pipe painted red like the tractor.
Cost me less than $100 in 1996 new.
Simple and very effective 10 round semi-auto gun.
Chrome plated bore so cleaning is a snap.
Reliable as dirt and accurate and hard hitting at past 100 YDS.
Being a rifle it is very easy to just stand up and pop off a few rounds at the target.
Costing almost nothing, I have nothing to loose if it accidently suffers damage.
I also like an old 4" barrel SW mdl 64, a .38 spl police carry in stainless for many of the same reasons.
Fixed sights shoots up to +P and is plenty accurate at 30 yds.
At the correct range and with a well placed shot either one will take down anything that grows where I live.

I have a 64, and it is a darn nice old revolver. Hundreds of women have learned to shoot with that revolver. It always works with a minimum of maintenance. I wish I had an SKS, but I was too stupid to buy one when they were cheap.

I have a ballistic nylon scabbard mounted on the side of my Massey. It holds both a machete and a .30-.30 Marlin.
