I finished school in the early 70s but learnt all imperial measurement. It was difficult at first to work in metric but i would not change back for anything.

What is the metric equivelant of a 2X4 and does it measure exactly the same every time you purchase lumber? If fact, I don't even know if there is a metric conversion for lumber. Is there????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Lumber is measured in board feet. How would you convert that to metric?????

The was some consideration, and some industries adopted it, but general acceptance never occurred.

I too, was taught both systems in school and still use both.

I asked for a 2X4. The guy said, "How long do you want it." I said, "Well, I'm installing it in my house, so I guess that would be pretty long. The people that buy the house are likely to continue to want it."
