You don't go into a Tractor Supply Co. store and hand out Rural King ads. It is just common courtesy to not use TBN's systems to promote a competing website.
With some people, common courtesy isn't common.

How often do you (or your boss, if you're not the company owner) allow your place of business to be used to advertise for your competitors?

Most forum software allows the admins (but not usually the mods) to see PMs from any account. This helps a lot when PMs get abusive or start violating certain standards. Just like you should assume that someone in your IT department is able to see every webpage you visit when you log on from work, it's safest to assume that the owner of a forum has access to everything you do on the forum. Of course, no one has the time or energy to snoop unless a valid reason is given.

Jeff, I have no doubt that your response is right on the money, although I'm not enough of a computer whiz to know for sure.;)

No that is right. However I may go into a Tractor Supply store and ask help about something not related to tractors and they may give me advice. This other Forum that everyone is talking about (And I won't say their name) is really not a tractor site anymore. Yeah it has a very small section for tractors but last I checked it had been some time since anyone posted there. The site has gotten to be more about other things and especially about Snow Tracs.

If I have a question about tractors I still come here and other places.

PS: I did go into Tractor Supply about a month ago looking for a Potatoe Plow. They didn't have one out of stock and told me Fleet Farm had them. Just in case anyone wanted to know?

I asked if he could PM me the link to the site Bob is on. No one ever said it was another tractor site (at that time).

Everyone is jumping to conclusions.

I just ASKED if it was another tractor site, that's all. I could really care less if it's another tractor site, I have no use for another tractor site. I just wanted to say hello to Bob.

My original post should have read:

"If the site you are mentioning isn't a competing tractor site, please pm me the link so I can say hello to Bob."

Everyone relax and be

Well said and very accurate! As far as I know, as a moderator, I do not have the ability to look at anyone's PMs but my own... and I definitely have better things to do even if I could! I come here to shoot the bologna, relax and maybe even learn something interesting every day.:)
