A post like this and no pics?
If downtime is no concern...only a minor inconvenience if one blows....only two reasons to replace.
1. The quit holding air. And not something that can be patched. IE dry cracked enough that they leak about everywhere.
2. Traction is suffering and you become exceedingly inefficient at the tasks you do.
Other than that, why jump at spending $$$ when the current ones do everything you need.
And when the time comes....replacing fronts and not rears is no issue at all. The fronts are ALOT smaller, are forced to slip in 4wd, and handle turning. So obviously they wear out faster. Going through 2-3 sets of fronts for every set of rears isn't uncommon.
My old tractor (L3400) had fronts worn almost smooth at 800 or so hours when I sold. They were 7-16 ags. While the 11.2-24 ag rears looked almost new.
My current mx5100.....the rear ags look almost new at 1000hrs. The 9.5-16 fronts I'd say are 45-50%
When the time comes.....I'd like to find the rims and put r4's up front. Because the R4's for the mx were 12" wide. The fronts don't really add much traction for what I do....but wider, more flotation, and heavier ply stiffer tire are much more desirable to me than the little traction I'll loose
