Kubota L2501
I'm putting spacers on my 2501 and am curious of what the best width is. I'm considering 1.5 and 2? I'm not too worried about stabily, more getting chains off and on and axle wear and tear. Also, is it normal to match front and rear widths or have the rear be extra wide.

Cheers,

The wider the better. The only restriction might come from the fronts and their interaction with the MMM (mid mounted mower) if you have one.

Much more load on the bearings ....seals leaking and the casings...if posoble keep it standard.
Buy a bigger tractor.

I inherited a 1964 MF 135 with the wheels set to max width for stability. The wheel width was set when new and no seal problems or or axle housing problems were experienced at all in 50 years (father and I) of ownership.
As for the front wheel track, if you are traveling in wheel ruts it is better to have the front wheels wide enough to fit the ruts left by the back wheels.

Go wider. 2" is the max according to Kubota. (I went 3 on my 3301.) During warranty period, going more than recommended could leave you exposed to not honoring a claim.

Kubota also says not to widen the front. I researched this and since the front axle pivots in the center, it really won't help stability until the axle is stopped at the bump stop from leaning. And by then, your already in trouble.

There is a valid concern on putting stress on the bearings due to the leverage.

MY OPINION ONLY!
However, this is a tractor and is designed to pull and lift weights.
Without substantial weight added, it doesn't have the traction or capacity to really load the rear axle to the breaking point.

Check in your partsmanual( Rear)where the outer bearing is and where the inner bearing is and you will see it's about 3" away from each other.

Do you have R4s or R1s?

I had a L3200 (same machine) with R4s. Chains were definitely a no go on the rears without spacers. I thought the R1s were adjustable, unlike the R4s.

I'd go with 2-3" unless that will make your machines wider than impliments. All my impliments were 60" (R4 width) & front chains did ok, so I never bothered with rears.
