Wheel Horse dozer blade height

I bought a gt1600 workhorse last year towing . Works great. It came with a dozer blade on it . The problem I have is the blade will not lift high enough to clear small bumps in the yard when locked in the up position . Only rides about 2” off the ground if that . I have to manually pull up on the lever when traveling. Could I just shorten the lift chain by a link ?
