Maybe that's the way they do things in Arkansas. (Guy in coveralls and no shirt, one opposite him and the one on the ground appear to be barefooted!)
In defense of our "shooowie hogs" neighbors, the pic seems to be of Virginians doing some work down in Mississippi. I'll leave it to others to determine which ones are from which state. ;)

NoMo,

We in Virginia are not that stupid... we would have three guys setting in the bucket for counterbalance!

Well, I'm still not sure how smart that is. It really depends on the size of the guys. Myself and a couple of my cousins would lift the rear tires if we sat in the bucket... assuming we could sit in the bucket.

Can I ask the question, if the auger will not penetrate the ground under it's own weight how do you get it to dig in, as any tractor that I have come across does not have down pressure? Call me stupid as I have proved that on several occasions.

An excellent question Steve. Mine will go right on down if the ground is a little damp....but if we're in a dry spell it won't penetrate at all. I keep the cutting teeth sharp and replace them when they're worn. However, it doesn't make any difference when the ground is hard. I have never had to put downward pressure in it though....rocking it back and forth puts enough pressure on the sides that eventually it will dig through.

My son is an industrial safety engineer and he wailed loud and hard about my "unsafe practice". I posed the same question to him and suggested he come up with a better one. I have yet to hear from him on the subject.

Merry X'mas all!
