Whats up with diesel prices?

Diesel usually runs about the price of super, maybe higher. The last 2 weeks, diesel dropped precipitously to less than unleaded. Don't they diesel & unleaded all come from oil and how come they aren't rising/dropping proportionally? Not complaining, just curious.

They are not used for the same things, so the prices vary based on those separate markets. Diesel is tricky in that it requires less refining but runs the entire military and transportation complex. One minor change in either side can cause a large shortage or stockpile.

Buy it while it's cheap, as the stockpile may be no more than a military deployment delay.

Or will it drop a lot further like it did in '08 when gas went from $4.12/gallon to $1.61/gallon?

Saving even $2/gallon would mean about $1200 difference.

In my area gasoline has fallen $.60/gallon while diesel has only dropped $.15/ gallon. I'm thinking about driving my old gas burner for a while.

In this area diesel was recently selling for $3.99 which was pretty much the norm, then it shot up to $4.29, went down to $3.99, then down to $3.75 and then back up to $3.89 and today it is down to $3.75 again. Wish they would stop screwing around with the prices because over a two week period that much change is inane.

Diesel here this Am was $3.59 a gallon and up..the best gasoline was $3.15 a gallon..and up at the interstate exits..

Just filled up diesel at $3.54 a gallon because I didn't want to wait in line at Walmart to get a further 3 cent discount. Fulton, MS.

The price of fuel may drop further if the Fed and other central banks refuse to act soon. I think they will act within the month of June and you will see inflation come back and raise prices of most goods higher.

If they don't act, the financial world as we know it will be over and they will lose their power....therefore, they will print.

I just wish the price of unleaded would drop. It has gone up the last 4 weeks while the rest of the country has gone down with oil. Diesel dropped three days ago to as low as 3.959/gal from previous day before 4.299 but some stations are still 30 cents more go figure. Unleaded 4.219 best in area diesel same station 3.959. They are blaming it on our refinery fire 100 miles north that happened 5 months ago.
