What's this plug?

I was changing my hydraulic fluid on my L3130 GST and lying underneath for 45 minutes awaiting the 11.1 gallons to stop dripping and I noticed this plug. It was obviously broken off or intentionally ripped out by the previous owner. I've had this tractor since about 2011 and it's always run great. Anyone know what it's supposed to do?

Accordingly to the service manual:

It's basically the ground speed sensor.

It sounds like the speed indicator will indicate 0.0 with this broken.

A stick or some type of debris could have broken it.
