What's inside a Coleman lantern?

Thanks! I looked in there and they seem to know everything. I'll repeat my question over there.

had one back in the day that did something similar... if you shook it lightly it worked for a little while... turn it on the side it worked for a min then would spit & sputter if it was left there too long and go out.

Also how NEW/OLD is the fuel? some of them were made to run on different fuel other than white gas, kero or regular would work in the really OLD ones. -Mark

Thanks Mark. This runs flawless so long as the intake tube is submerged by tipping the lantern. Set upright, it runs out of fuel.

The fuel seems ok. It burns nicely so long as the intake is submerged. I haven't found any way to flood and gag it.

I JUST gave away a coleman lantern that I no longer used or I'd go right now and check for a dip tube to clear this up.

Surely somebody with a lantern could pop open the fill cap and check if they have one ?

Somebody responded that there is no wick. So I must have recalled that from a tiny Svea backpack stove.

I don't recall ever seeing a wick in the bottom of the tank, and yes, I make it a habit to looking in the tank.

Now a dip tube,,,funny,,, even though I claim to look, I don't recall seeing one.

Those parts list sure seem to show one though.
