Whats better mechanical or digital? Why is the digital meter cheaper than the mechanical GPI at TSC? Is it better or was it mis marked and I should drive back and get it? This will be for 100gal tank in my bed. That I use to fill up our dozers, tractors etc. So it doesnt have to be industrial strength but I wouldnt mind that.

TIA
Jon

Personally, I will always get the mechanical/analogue type whenever possible.

Yes, in this day and age digital is less expensive but, in my experience, they don't last as long or are as robust as the mech/analogue device. The same thing goes, for example, a washing machine or dryer... digital goes 'down' & you have to replace the entire control front. Analogue, you just have to replace the relevant switch/knob.

You get what you pay for.

How do you like your mechanical one? Has it held up?

I don't have one specifically for my transfer tank as it's only a 50ltr.

That being said, a digital meter would require a power source of some sort IOT keep the data and operate. Even whilst not in use, a 'keep alive' current would be required... even if it's a AA battery. Which you'd need to monitor occasionally to ensure that it doesn't run out.

A mechanical wouldn't require that.

I'll echo Wagtail's comments in post #2. I would have not been as perfectly descriptive as using the word "robust", I would have said cheap or un-reliable, while robust hit's the nail on the head. :drink:

I'm not certain which is better but I haven't had any problems with mechanical ones. Here's one on my pickup truck tank. IMG_2901.JPG
