Since my new to me 4720 is on the way, I need to sell my 2wd 1050. It's a '85 or '86. It has 3300 hrs. It does have rear remotes. I have a set of weights on the front. It came with turf tires. The tractor looks great, and runs great. I have replaced the water pump, headlight switch, head gasket, and a few other odds and ends. It has no problems that I am aware of. Is $5500 too much to ask? I want to be fair and don't have to hold out for the very best price.

Ask the $5500...can't hurt, and you can always negotiate a final price with a buyer.

Have you compared pricing on Tractorhouse and Machinefinder? I think I would start at $6000 if it looks good and would not sell below $5000+. That will make someone a good size starter tractor and even the smaller 2wd tractors are in demand, people looking for good used tractors seem to say that there isn't much to choose from.

Price is relative to where you are, 2WD vs 4Wd, hours and attachments factor in obviously. Start high and go from there. Good luck.

We had a consignment auction nearby last weekend. A 2wd 1050 was sold with ag type wheels, but turf tires installed. It looked weird with little skinny turfs on the rear. It did not have a rear remote. The only thing on the tractor was a 3ph. With 8250 hours it sold for $4400. Sheet metal was straight, but paint was badly faded. It was missing a few lights. I was amazed at what it went for.

If yours is in good shape it should fetch closer to the $6000 I mentioned above. Truth is in my locale there isn't much available below $10k, and a nice used tractor will sell quickly.

As the saying goes, it's worth what someone will pay. I sold it. It was on craigs list for $5750 (due the advice from members here). First caller from the ad that started Sunday night, stopped by today. We settled on $4700. I'm fine with that. My initial thought was to ask $5000, and take $4500. I've sold quite a few things on craigs list, and it seems the first caller is usually the one that buys it. I hope he's happy with it, I think I sold him a good tractor. I did hate to see it leave, but the 4720 cab tractor sure looks better under the shelter :) I'm ashamed to say what I payed for it when I bought it, so I won't. But I'm grinning.
