Anyone know how to run a serial number to find out what model year a Boomer was manufactured? Is there a NH phone number that can be called?

Never heard of one, but a ford dealer may be able to tell you. what is the model # of the tractor (2000, 2600,301 ect) is
it gas or dissel, what kind of transmission does it have and what is the color?

Pat, neither the Owner's Manual nor the Repair Manual give a description of serial no. to year cross reference. They both say to check with "your dealer" for information. I don't think they are year models like automobiles, but rather the tractors are considered "production runs" and may be spread out over several years. Hope this helps.

Think I figured it out - sorta - I agree that they must batch run out of Japan - then fed through the (very little) final assembly of the operator station state-side. Get this....the frame tag suggests manufacture in Japan in March of 2000, the battery was punched on Feb of 2001!

Hi Pat:

Obviously, the battery is easy enough to figure out. How did you determine the manufacturing window of the "frame?"

I'm curious no matter the country of origin.

Jay

Howdy Diesel-Jay,
Seen you around b/4 on another forum - I also have spent a lot of time on ford-diesel.com since buying my new '99 SuperDuty back in '98. I actually have a lower 3 digit user #! Have 60K on the truck.

From what I was told, the "born on" date can be found on the I.D. tag on the left side of the tractor. As I understand it, the "Unit #" is what is referenced. The first digit of the unit number is the year of manufacture - a "0" is 2000, a "1" is 2001. The second digit is a character - the letter stands for the month - "A" = January, "B" = Feb., etc. The next two digits are the day. Hope that helps.

Howdy!

Yep, that's me! Just a leisurely stroll through this site, though.

As for the tractor "born on date," that's interesting. I was curious as to how the codes mught be deciphered. Thanx for the tip!

Best Regards,
Jay
