What would you want to be remembered for?

Who cares....I won't hear what anybody has to say anyway.

It won't matter, I won't be there.

Someone asked me that very question last week and my reply was, " I'd like to be remembered as a good father and husband" the heck with the rest of it.

I wrote my own a while back and have tried to fulfill my own made up story. Career, things I liked to do, a step-daughter I raised as my own child and dammed proud of her status and accomplishments despite the odds, my hobbies and toys, donations to great causes, loved to fish, tractor dance and play sports... The obituary is all about your family, relatives, neighbors (even forum friends), armed services participation, charity work and and community spirit.

I'll bet you have a lot more contributions that people will remember you for than you could ever imagine. Don't sell yourself short. You were probably put here for a reason ! Make sure that's covered....

Your opinion reminds me of a former friend who was also my boss for a long time, we were discussing obituaries and I told him it bothered me when I saw the name of someone I knew in the Deaths and Funerals section of the local news.

He said: "As long as I don't see my name there, it doesn't bother me at all...."

There are untold millions of guys like myself, people who are just average fellows who did their job, paid their dues, built a good credit record, and loved their families and were loyal friends.
That's just about perfect for most folks. ;)

Same here! What I long to hear is Jesus tell me "Well done my good and faithful servant!"

For your sake I hope you do. I am happy in my knowledge that I will not hear anything as I do not have your belief.

I would like to belief that I have been a good family and community member and will be remembered because of that.

The one thing I'd like to hear said at my funeral would be " Look, he's still moving! "
