They brought my 2210 to me the other day and after 1.5 hours of mowing I noticed a transaxle leak. Bad leak. Took it back to dealer, the spit the tractor(see pic)at 2.5 hrs on the clock and a gasket was missing. I havn`t signed any papers on the deal yet or handed over any money. The service manager got smart with me this morning, so I decided to not tell him that the high-low range didnt work either. He can just tear it down again later when he figures that out..

The salesmen and most everyone has been 100% so far, but I am not buying this tractor after this. If they wont replace the unit, I will go buy a different brand..

So what do you guys think?

I'd tell them now unless what occured between the two of you was way out of line.

I'd tell them about the H/L problem and reconsider my decision on the 2210. Where you happy with its performance for the 90 minutes you had it? I wouldn't take this tractor back unless they made some serious price concessions.

I just figured it out that the high low range didnt work this afternoon when I drove a friends Kubota. Low range is walking speed at best and the Jd never did that..They wont believe me anyways and they wont be able to check it till it is back and running again anyways. I did mention it to him that the range selector didnt feel right, this morning. He brushed it off as rust on the linkage..

This is a bad deal, the transaxle is messed up. I think the Low range is out of the shift fork. And yes what he said was out of line..I dont really want to buy there after his attitude..I even told the guy "Hey, I know it isnt your fault, it is JD`s fault." The mech working on it is my cousin,even...

No.30 in this pic is what had no gasket on it..

Ouch!

I once had a problem with a car dealership's service department, one where I had spent a considerable amount of money on new cars.

I had a talk with the manager for the dealership, and received a very nice apology from them as well as the service department.

I wouldn't buy that tractor without some kind of concession on their part, either a discount on the tractor, free 50 hr service including tranport, or...

Good luck.

Please remember that this is the busiest time of the year for the CC&E service departments, and also that service managers are very accustomed to people asking for more than what can be allowed by Deere. I do not know what was said between you and the service manager, what I do know is that a large majority of problems that you will have with a tractor occur in the first few uses of the unit. And there is certanly no gurantee that the next tractor that you may purchase wont have an entirely different problem. My suggestion is to let the department know of any and all problems with the unit and after it has been corrected give the tractor a run through at the dealership. At which time if you are satisfied with the tractors performance take that one.
At least you know what has been done to that tractor, unlike the one in the back lot or at the Massey dealership down the road. The one you buy from Kubota may be the one the steering wheel fell off of in the parking lot. You just never know.

Service Managers may have off days too. If the general dealership feeling was ambient chances are that's the way they operate.

If you liked the machine and are buying new I'd have a tendency to ask for another unit.

Service Managers are sorta between a rock and a hard place much of the time.

That's a total bummer, and would certainly cause me a lot of misgivings about the purchase, or potential purchase of that particular unit. If it were me, and no papers were signed I'd try to get another unit of the same make/model. I bought mine without signing papers till it was delivered, and everything worked out fine. That's not the case here though - Personally I think you're justified in asking for another tractor - but backing out all together, well I doubt I'd do that without making a good faith effort to get things right at the dealer you're with. Let us know how it works out - either way it's your decision, and spending that many $$ entitles you to be happy with that decision.

In a service company, the good ones know that a customer with problems, handled properly will become your best customer. Why not the same from customers to the dealership. I'd sit down and point out the problems, keep my col and work it out. Let them offer a solution, first, it might be better than you would ask for. If they treat you like the plague, you will be glad you hadn't done the deal. But they may jump through hoops, or at least treat you right.
