What was the FIRST tractor you ever drove?

I found the biggest problem with driving tractors on the farm from a young age was turning 16 and getting my drivers license. Kept wanting to use my right foot for the steering brakes.

Ford 8N for me. I was in my teens so it must have been in the mid-ish 60s.
I used to help my neighbor with haying.

Or ... you learn to park it on a hill so you can bump start it with the clutch!

Dad's last tractor was a McCormic Deering T40. Great big old thing. Sweet heart to crank cold (on gas) but when warm you could crank all day. I took to parking it on a slope and starting it on diesel when warm. A tremendous 'jerk' when the clutch too hold. I really should have been starting it on gas.

Ford 8N.......it was an uncle's tractor........ran it into a ditch.....he wasn't happy.

Ford 8N, pulling hay wagon, I was 11 or 12.

The Minneapolis Moline was my favorite. My stepdad also had a VAC Case with the wide front end and an SC with the narrow. More rust than paint, but great experience growing up.

Late 60s I was about 7, dad owned partnership in a dairy, use to drive the popping Johnny with the manure spreader, couldn't reach the pedels since I was small for my age, dad would drive it through the gate jump off and I would drive it around the trail he had and then he would meet me back at the gates and park it

Ford 8n. I think I was around 10 years old. 55 years ago. Dang that sounds weird...

In the 50's, 7 or 8, Allis WD picking rocks, stone bolt and plowed ground with manual steering and the hand clutch then stand on the brake pedals.:laughing:
Learned to really dislike rocks and still do
