I was wondering what other JD owners use for their bearing. I usually use a lithuim based grease. But a local dealer said I should use the JD brand instead
and he advise that " since it's still under warranty it would be best to use JD brand lubes". I should also point out that I went in to get his best price and on an attachment and he was way off the other dealers I use. So I thought I'd post this to get others opinions.

What a bunch of bunk. You are in no way required to use their lubricants. Magnus Moss Act states that if a manufacturer requires the use of their lubricants only and nothing else can be used to maintain warranty they must provide them free of charge. He just want's to sell you their merchandise.

There are already some grease topic's in the Oil's and Lubricants forum on this site. Give them a read over as they should answer most questions about grease.

I use the polyurea grease from Deere, the super sticky green stuff. I wasn't happy with the high temp properties of the standard #2 grease from TSC, so when I was in to get parts at the deere dealer, I picked up a few tubes and use it for everything now. My 2210 is out of warranty, not that it would matter, but I still go pick up supplies from my local dealer so he remembers who I am, and the do have some pretty decent lubricants.

I use the polyurea stuff bought from JD. JD dealer is closer to me than TSC or just about any other place to buy the stuff.

I only grease the FEL fittings and LX4 tail wheel fittings with any frequency. The other stuff will get it again at 250 hours after getting it at 50 hours. Think one of the worst things you can do is to overgrease, particularly if there's a seal involved on one end.

One big thing to remember when using a Polyurea base grease is that it is highly INCOMPATIBLE with all other grease base stocks. If you start using it make sure you completly clean out all the old grease. This is the major drawback of Polyurea grease, it's not friendly with other greases.

Why is this. I bought two tubes a little while ago. I think that I have used them in the loader arms. Does it hurt to mix the different greases. I plan on using this grease for my MMM, however since I bought the tractor used, I don't know what was in there before. I don't want to have to take things apart unless I am going to do significant damage.

Of all the grease bases the Polyurea is the least compatible with others. You can have all kinds of weird chemical reactions between different bases. The best thing to do before changing grease types is to check this grease compatibility chart. If it is incompatible then you either need to completly clean out all the old non compatible grease or go with a different grease that is of a compatible type. I like Calcium 12-Hydroxysterate grease because it is the most compatible with other grease types and therefore makes a great replacement grease.

It is my understanding that Polyurea base grease reacts only at higher temperatures. (+200F) Can anyone confirm or deny this?

What if your not sure of the grease currently in the machine. I have no idea what grease is in use. It's dark gray thats all I can tell you. I want to use the poly but I'm fearful of the compatiblity.
