Why does it matter what their called? Last time I read it 2A didn’t mention anything about sports.

The point Notaz3 was making is that 'AR' doesn't stand for "Assault Rifle".Armalite made things other than "modern sporting rifles." Some were more successful than others.

There's about just as many articles that say AR is for Armalite Rifle.
Makes you wonder if they'd have made a pistol what would it have been called?
I'm guessing it would have been AP-1, AP-2, etc.
That's how I remember it from magazine articles in the 50's. It wasn't until more recent times I started seeing "rifle" for the "R" in "AR."
The AR-17 is not an Armalite Rifle, and "Rifle" was not in the company name.

The one I always have to laugh at, is when the press says the arrested person had 500 rounds of ammo. Then, don't tell what kind of ammo they had.

Yeah I think I have about 5K of LR on the shelf at all times, Not short on other stuff either, Heck I have an arsenal of arrows for the stringed weapons and a "museum" of knives, blades, etc. I hate running out of anything I use. I even have extra dogs just in case I need emotional support.
