What is the application of the oil, transmission, hydraulic, engine? Best I can remember is that Tyep A was a rather old specification for a automatic transmission fluid. The original Dexron met Type A spec. A little more info on the application and I'm sure I can figure out something for you.
It runs the hydrostatic transmission, two hydraulic motors sweeps in the front of the machine, hydraulic cylinder for the steering in the rear of the machine. The harvester has about a 25 gallon resevior on the front of the machine. I appreciate the help, if there is any additional info needed I will try and provide.

I'm waiting on a call back from a triboligist at the home office (I'm in the lubricants industry) and should know something shortly. From what you are describing it looks like it is calling for ATF, the SAE Type A was a spec that the original Dexron met. I have a feeling that you might be able to use UTF (universal tractor fluid) in it's place. It would be cheaper than ATF. I'll post as soon as I hear back from John.

Haven't had a chance to get back on and let you know what I found out, sorry for the delay. As I suspected UTF can be used and would be the modern equivelant for this type of application.
