Had a bit of rain this afternoon. Not sure if I should plant corn or carp.

Looks like a good place to plant mosquitos to me. Will we be seeing the "Stuck in the mud" photos tomorrow?

Gary,

What state are you located in? So far here in Maryland we haven't been getting nearly the rain we did last year.

Gary I'm also in Ohio. I have been waiting for the past 2 weeks to get the corn in the ground. Everything is ready except the weather. Yet I have friends that already have corn breaking through the ground. Timing is everything these days.

I do believe that you need a Chinese tractor to go with your rice fields. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Corn is already peeping thru up here too, but your growing season is much longer in Ohio than it is up here in the great white north so I guess there is still hope GWS, dont despair.

Gary,
How did you fair after last night's TWO rounds of storms?

Yesterday morning, I was going to take pictures to show Junkman how much my water had receded, but now, my front yard is worse than its ever been previously! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I just spent 12 hours dealing with a leaking roof and flooded warehouse and I just came home to this! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I'm too tired to deal with it right now.

The water level is higher than the outlet for my basement sump pump so it's coming back up through my spouting lines and back into my basement! I'm going to unplug it and see if that helps, since it's just recirculating the same water over and over!

Two more nights and I'm on vacation for the next 11 days!
Any guesses of what I'll be working on? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Andy.... purchase a "trash pump" and dig a hole in the yard and put in a leach field tank to collect the water. When it gets this bad, start up that pump and pump the water to the other side of the road. You have to get rid of it somehow and I don't believe that there is going to be any other solution than to manually remove it.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Andy,
Friday evening was an interesting one. Down in Columbus were I work it was hot, humid and sunny all day. I was watching the radar and storms were north in the state.
About quiting time it started to drop down and It was a fast moving very wet storm. I-71 came to a complete stop for about 20 minutes. I couldnt see the car lights of the car in front of me. Rain was comming down in sheets. Winds topped about 40 miles/hr and I am stuck on the highway. I was listening to the radio/tv station and my ham radio weather spotters networks and its was sounding ugly all around me. I finally got home about 1hr late. Parts of N I71 were flooded where farm fields were over saturated. One field had a waterfall onto the highway. LOTS of water. By the time I got home the rains had slowed. We didnt have much standing water at all, but did have some wind damage around the area. Mainly staight line winds.

As of yesterday evening, I had everything completely drained! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Considering there was over two feet of water at its deepest point, it was pretty neat to be able to stand under the center of the willow tree for the first time in almost two years! I was going to take pictures, but I was so tired last night, I could barely stand up!

After midnight last night, we received more thunderstorms, and I was back to square one again. Now that I have the pump in place and the trenches dug, it drains a whole lot faster than before! Next week, I plan to have the gravel and topsoil dumped and I'll post pictures in a new thread and explain everything that I've done during the past few days... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thanks to everyone for all your help!

GET RID OF THE TREE, i have on about 2x the size and it is nothing but trouble, dirty, spend 1/2 my time clealing up after the least bit of wind. get rid of it and fill in the low spot. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
